Patrode, colocasia/ taro leaves pan-cakes

Healthy eating has been a trend these days, and those who work out would tend to eat lot of packed/ preserved proteins... Taro leaves are good source of Proteins, Vitamin A & C... Consuming taro would help you gain muscular body like that you get after working out in a gym!! Of course, it contains oxalates which gives rise to complications of renal calculus/ kidney stones and gout... If consumed rightly, the proteins in it aid to keep you young!!! Taro leaves acts against ageing and it is a plant having proteins more than some roots... Rich source of calcium helps mid-aged ladies acquiring arthritis to get over the problem.  The phenolic substances obviously keeps cancer away and reduces the risk of cardiac related diseases. 

 

Ingredients:
Taro leaves   : 12-15
Split toor dal/ pigeon peas : 1 cup
Rice : 1 cup
Red chillies : 15 nos.
Grated coconut : 1 cup
Hing (asafoetida) : 1/2 tsp
Tamarind:
Mung bean/ green gram : 2 fistful
Coriander seeds : 2 tb sp
Jeera/ cumin seeds : 2 tb sp
Salt to taste
Oil


Procedure:
1. Clean the leaves under running water and keep it aside.
2. Soak toor dal and rice for about 2 hrs.
 
 3. Dry fry mung bean in a pan without oil, add coriander seeds, jeera, and all what you prefer for a tasty food. (optional: It can include a tsp urad dal and channa dal).
 

4. Grind the soaked dal and rice into a fine paste.

5. Also grind grated coconut, tamarind, red chillies, and the fried ingredients with salt to a fine paste.

6. Mix it well, add hing and smear it on the taro leaf.
 
7. Layer with many more number of leaves and finish the roll as shown in pics.




 
8. Tie it with a thread and steam it for 40 min. By this long cooking, one can get rid of any toxins from the plant and also the oxalates are avoided.
 
9. Cool after steaming and cut the roll transversely, fry it on pan with some oil.
 
10. Fry on a pan with little oil for 3-5 min and serve hot.
 

Hogging on this protein rich delicacy, once a month helps you to also wash the intestine naturally. Cleaning from internally is much more associated with clean health and if this happens naturally, just go for it. Many more such veggies does the colon cleaning, more will be updated shortly.
